This page explains what Encyclopedia on Pets does with the details you send through our forms. Reading articles, galleries and stories does not require you to give us any personal details.
What we collect, and why

Review before anything is published
Nothing you send is published automatically. Stories and directory listings stay private until we have reviewed them and, for listings, confirmed the details with you. Directory entries from the site's old directory (2009) are kept privately and are not shown, because we cannot confirm they are current or that their owners agree.
Other information we keep
- Abuse protection: to limit repeated submissions we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address for up to one day. We do not keep the address itself with your submission.
- Form cookie: a cookie named
eop_csrfprotects the forms against misuse from other websites. It contains a random value only, is not used for tracking and ends when you close your browser. - Notification emails: a copy of each submission is sent to, or kept for, the site's own inbox ([email protected]) so we can reply.
Who can see your details
Only the people who run Encyclopedia on Pets. We do not sell or share your details with anyone else, except what you agreed to have published as described above.
How long we keep them
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after we have answered.
- Stories and registrations that are not published: up to 12 months after our decision.
- Published stories and listings: while they are on the site, and until you ask us to remove them.
- Photos are deleted together with the story or listing they belong to.
Changing or deleting your details
Email [email protected] from the address you used, and tell us what you would like to see, correct or remove. We will reply and act on it as soon as we can.
